The Flaming Lips (formed in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1983) is an American rock band. The current members of the group are Wayne Coyne on lead vocals and guitar, Michael Ivins on bass, Steven Drozd on guitar, and Kliph Scurlock on drums. The band is known for their multi-layered, psychedelic arrangements and bizarre song and album titles. The group recorded several albums and EPs on an indie label in the 1980s and early 1990s. After signing to Warner Brothers their single "She Don't Use Jelly" became a hit in 1993. In 1986 they released their first studio album titled 'Hear It Is' and a year later the group came out with their second album 'Oh My Gawd!!!'. In 1989 'Telepathic Surgery' was released and in 1990, the Flaming Lips released their fourth album, 'In a Priest Driven Ambulance'. 'Hit to Death in the Future Head' was released in 1992 and following that, 'Transmissions from the Satellite Heart' in 1993. The group's seventh studio album was released in 1995 and titled 'Clouds Taste Metallic'. Two years later they released 'Zaireeka' and two years after that the band released 'The Soft Bulletin'. 'Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots' came out in 2002 and their most recent album, 'At War with the Mystics', was released in 2006. The Flaming Lips have also released numerous EPs, compilations, and videos. In 2013, Wayne Coyne of Flaming Lips revealed that the band would be releasing a collaborative album with Kesha, called Lipsha.
