In an interview earlier this year, Billy Corgan admitted that he desires to “find peace” with his former Smashing Pumpkins bandmates James Iha and D’arcy Wretzky. While the frontman was quick to point out his sentiments don’t necessarily mean a reunion of the classic lineup is in the cards, this week fans can revisit the good od’ days with not one, but two newly unearthed tracks.
The first is an alternate recording of “One and Two”, a song which originally appeared on Iha’s 1998 solo debut, Let It Come Down, and whose demo version later popped up on the rarities-packed 2012 reissue of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. As Alternative Nation points out, this previously unheard iteration features Corgan, and not Iha, on lead vocals — one of the few Iha-penned tracks to do so.
The second blast from the past is “The Tracer”. Also culled from the Mellon Colliesessions, the track appears within “Pastichio Medley”, a 23-minute medley featuring over 70 song snippets appearing on Smashing Pumpkins’ 1996 Zero EP.
