Lexi’s Weekly Lowdown: Week of 2/6-2/10

Music News

Linkin Park releases a never-before-heard track ” Lost”

With the 20th anniversary of “Meteora”, fans have been piecing together clues for weeks of new music from the band. This is personally one of my favorite things bands have been doing lately. While we always love new music, releasing songs from “vaults” not only gives us something new to listen to, but also brings that nostalgia of how we felt back when we first were obsessed with that record.

In The Headlines

While Machine Gun Kelly did not take home a Grammy on Sunday, soon to be wifey Megan Fox could not have been prouder of him. Kelly took to Instagram after the show and explained to his fans how he feels like a winner either way for even being nominated. Megan took to Instagram to respond “Congratulations on being in the very small percentage of artists who have received a Grammy nomination,” Fox captioned photos of herself and Kelly. “You have handled this process with a grace and maturity that I haven’t seen from you before and I’m so proud of you.”  Overall, I am extremely impressed with MGK’s response to his nomination. I feel like he gets a bad rap, but continues to prove his love and respect for the industry, regardless of the outcome.

Earlier in the week Paramore played the legendary Grand Ol Opry. And if we didn’t need more of a reason to love Hayley Williams, she covered and honored the late Loretta Lynn. A true tear jerker ahead…

Check this out!

Let me introduce you to Taylor Acorn! I first found Taylor on Instagram, doing her stripped down version of Mayday Parade’s “Jamie All Over”. Taylor takes all of those amazing hardcore throwback emo songs and strips them down so beautifully, you can even make them your wedding song. As a matter of fact, I even attended my friend’s wedding this past summer, and their first dance was to Taylor’s version of “First Date” by Blink 182. While Taylor’s covers are amazing, don’t mistake her for just that. Her originals are the perfect mix of early 2000’s pop/punk nostalgia, to lyrically being exactly how you are feeling in your late twenties.

& that’s this week’s lowdown!
